Convert a Starling Bank statement to Excel
The Starling app gives monthly statements as PDF, and transaction summaries as PDF or CSV for any dates in the last 12 months. RowBalance turns either into Excel, read in your browser, and checks PDF statements against their balances.
Not every Starling Bank statement layout has been tested, so try one statement free and check the balance result before you convert a batch. RowBalance is an independent product of Forclev LLC and is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Starling Bank. Starling Bank is a trademark of its owner, named only to describe statement compatibility.

Monthly statement or CSV export: which Starling file to use
Starling’s help centre says full monthly statements cover calendar months only and download as PDF or large-print PDF: account menu, Statements and documents, Statement history. For custom dates, the Go to feed exports link gives a transaction summary for any dates in the last 12 months as PDF, large-print PDF or CSV. Starling notes that these summaries are not verifiable statements.
Several Starling statements arrive as a ZIP
If you select more than one month, Starling downloads the statements together in a compressed ZIP file. RowBalance does not open ZIP files, so extract the PDFs first, then drop them all above. A paid plan converts them in one batch and merges them into one file.
Starling history after an account closes
Starling says you can ask for a copy of your transaction history up to 5 years after the account has closed. The email link and password are active for 60 days, so save the file when it arrives.
How to do it
- In the Starling app, download monthly PDF statements, or a CSV from Go to feed exports.
- Extract any ZIP, drop the files above and check the balance badge on each PDF.
- Export Excel or CSV free, or Xero CSV, OFX and QBO on a paid plan.
Excel and CSV are free for up to 5 pages a day, or 10 with a free account. QuickBooks, Xero and OFX files and batch conversion are on paid plans, from a $9 one-off pass: see pricing or go back to the converter.
Questions
Can I use the Starling CSV with Xero or FreeAgent?
Starling says its CSV export works with accounting software like Xero or FreeAgent. For an OFX file or a Xero CSV made from the PDF statements, RowBalance writes both on a paid plan.
Is RowBalance affiliated with Starling Bank?
No. RowBalance is an independent tool from Forclev LLC. Starling Bank is a trademark of its owner, named only to describe compatibility.
