Convert PDF bank statements to QBO for QuickBooks

Create Web Connect (.qbo) files from PDF statements that QuickBooks Online and Desktop import as bank feeds.

Built to the Web Connect format

Files follow OFX 1.0.2 with the Intuit sign-on block QuickBooks expects, a checking or credit card statement aggregate, closing balance, and a unique, stable FITID for every transaction. Export the same statement twice and QuickBooks still recognises transactions it has already imported.

Catch errors before they reach the books

Each statement is reconciled before export. If the transactions do not add up to the closing balance, you see the difference and the rows that cause it, before anything is posted to QuickBooks.

How to do it

  1. Drop your statements above. They are read in your browser and every balance is checked.
  2. Fix any flagged row in the editor, then choose QuickBooks (.qbo).
  3. QuickBooks Online: Transactions › Bank transactions › Upload from file. QuickBooks Desktop: File › Utilities › Import › Web Connect Files.

Excel and CSV are free for up to 5 pages a day. QuickBooks, Xero and OFX files and batch conversion are on paid plans, from a $9 one-off pass: see pricing or go back to the converter.

Questions

Does QBO work with QuickBooks Online and Desktop?

Yes. QuickBooks Online imports .qbo through "Upload from file". QuickBooks Desktop imports it as a Web Connect file. Desktop versions that Intuit no longer supports may refuse Web Connect imports.

What if QuickBooks rejects the bank ID?

QBO files carry an Intuit bank identifier. RowBalance uses a widely accepted default, and you can change it in the export options if your QuickBooks asks for a specific bank.

Can I convert credit card statements?

Yes. Credit card statements are detected automatically and exported as credit card accounts, with charges negative and payments positive.
