Convert QFX (Quicken) files to CSV or Excel

QFX is the file Quicken imports from your bank. Open it in Excel, or move it to another app.

What makes a QFX file different

QFX is Intuit’s Quicken variation of OFX. The statement data is the same, but the file carries Quicken-specific sign-on fields (an institution ID, INTU.BID) that Quicken checks before it accepts the file. For conversion to a spreadsheet those extras do not matter.

Moving from Quicken to another app

Export a QFX from your bank, convert it to CSV or Excel here, and import into a spreadsheet or the new app. To go the other way (into QuickBooks), export the data as QBO instead.

How to do it

  1. Drop the .qfx file above.
  2. Check the balance and the transactions.
  3. Download CSV or Excel.

Excel and CSV are free for up to 5 pages a day. QuickBooks, Xero and OFX files and batch conversion are on paid plans, from a $9 one-off pass: see pricing or go back to the converter.

Questions

Can Excel open a QFX file directly?

Not usefully. It is an OFX text file, so Excel shows the raw tags. Convert it to CSV or Excel first.

Does converting change my Quicken data?

No. The file is read in your browser and your original is untouched.
