Real Excel dates and numbers
RowBalance writes a native .xlsx workbook: dates are Excel dates, amounts are numbers, and money in, money out and running balance get separate columns. A second sheet lists the balance check for each statement, so the reconciliation goes into the file with the data.
Why not copy and paste?
Copying from a PDF splits rows, merges columns and drops minus signs. RowBalance reads the text positions on the page to rebuild the table, joins descriptions that wrap onto two lines, and confirms the result: opening balance plus every transaction must equal the closing balance.
How to do it
- Drop one or more PDF statements above.
- Check the balance badge. A green "Balanced" means opening + transactions = closing.
- Download Excel (.xlsx). It is free for up to 5 pages a day.
Excel and CSV are free for up to 5 pages a day. QuickBooks, Xero and OFX files and batch conversion are on paid plans, from a $9 one-off pass: see pricing or go back to the converter.
Questions
Is it free to convert a bank statement to Excel?
Yes. The free plan converts up to 5 pages a day to Excel or CSV, with no signup. Paid plans add QuickBooks, Xero and OFX exports and batch conversion.
Does it work with scanned statements?
Not yet. RowBalance reads text-based PDFs, which is what online banking downloads normally are. If you can select the text in your PDF viewer, it will work.
Which banks are supported?
The parser does not depend on a particular layout. It finds the date, description, amount and balance columns on any text-based statement, including US and UK date and number formats.
