Download options
Signed in to Wells Fargo Online, the Download Account Activity page produces files for a date range, typically comma-delimited for spreadsheets and Quicken Web Connect for finance software; business accounts commonly add a QuickBooks option. PDF statements are in Statements and documents. Check which formats and how far back your account allows.
What the PDF looks like
Checking statements typically show a transaction history table with Date, Check Number, Description, Additions, Subtractions and Ending daily balance. Dates are month/day without a year, so the year comes from the statement period, and the balance column is filled only on the last transaction of each day.
Gotchas
Because amounts sit in separate Additions and Subtractions columns, a parser must decide the sign from the column, not from a minus sign. The daily balance appears on some rows only, so a row-by-row check is partial. RowBalance infers the year across a December to January period, signs each amount from its column, and checks beginning balance plus additions minus subtractions against the ending balance.
How to do it
- Download your Wells Fargo monthly PDF statements.
- Drop them above and review the balance badges.
- Export Excel or CSV, or QBO, Xero CSV and OFX on a paid plan.
Excel and CSV are free for up to 5 pages a day. QuickBooks, Xero and OFX files and batch conversion are on paid plans, from a $9 one-off pass: see pricing or go back to the converter.
