Convert a PNC statement to Excel

PNC Online Banking exports transactions as QFX for Quicken or QBO for QuickBooks, and keeps PDF statements for up to 7 years. RowBalance opens either as Excel or CSV, read in your browser, and checks PDF statements against their balances.

Not every PNC statement layout has been tested, so try one statement free and check the balance result before you convert a batch. RowBalance is an independent product of Forclev LLC and is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by PNC. PNC is a trademark of its owner, named only to describe statement compatibility.

PNC exports QFX or QBO: how to get a spreadsheet

PNC’s Quicken page says customers can export transactions and select either .QFX for Quicken or .QBO for QuickBooks. Both are OFX text files, so Excel shows raw tags rather than a table. Drop the file above and RowBalance lists the transactions as a spreadsheet or a CSV.

PNC statements: 7 years for checking, 4 for cards

PNC says statements are available for up to 7 years for checking and savings accounts and up to 4 years for credit cards. In Online Banking choose Accounts, the account, Account Quick View, then Statements and Documents; in the app, More, then Statements and Documents. Use the PDFs for older months or when you need opening and closing balances.

PNC credit card activity

PNC’s credit card page says Online Banking shows up to 13 months of posted transactions and can export activity to Quicken, QuickBooks, Microsoft Money or Microsoft Excel. RowBalance does not read Excel files, so choose a Quicken or QuickBooks file, or use the card statement PDF, where charges are exported as money out and payments as money in.

How to do it

  1. Export transactions as .QFX or .QBO in PNC Online Banking, or download your statement PDFs.
  2. Drop the files above and check the balance badge on each PDF.
  3. Export Excel or CSV free, or QBO, Xero CSV and OFX on a paid plan.

Excel and CSV are free for up to 5 pages a day, or 10 with a free account. QuickBooks, Xero and OFX files and batch conversion are on paid plans, from a $9 one-off pass: see pricing or go back to the converter.

Questions

Can I open a PNC QFX file in Excel?

Not usefully. Excel shows the OFX tags as text. Convert the file to Excel or CSV above; it is read in your browser and the original is not changed.

Is RowBalance affiliated with PNC?

No. RowBalance is an independent tool from Forclev LLC. PNC is a trademark of its owner, named only to describe compatibility.
